SPOILER ALERT: Potential plot points for “Superman” ahead. Proceed with caution.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- It looks like Clark Kent’s favorite baseball team or at least its home ballpark will be featured in DC’s upcoming “Superman.”

The movie will shoot scenes at Progressive Field for several days this week, according to a source with knowledge of the production. Indeed, gates around the ballpark were covered up on Tuesday to block the view of the field from the Right Field Gate and Gateway Plaza. Barriers were also installed to discourage passersby from gathering near the stadium.

Keen observers, however, have spotted the Metropolis Meteors logo being painted behind home plate.

A Cleveland Guardians spokesperson wouldn’t confirm the film shoot. The team is on the road this week, playing at Detroit and Tampa Bay before breaking for the All-Star Game.

It’s not clear how the fictional baseball team or its stadium figures into the story. In the movie, the Meteors play at LordTech Field. The logo of LordTech, owned in the comics by supervillain Maxwell Lord, was previously spotted on the superhero suits of Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) and the Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion) in scenes shot at Public Square.

The film crew, led by director James Gunn, is currently shooting scenes at the Detroit-Superior Bridge. Production will expand to the PNC Center at E. 9th St. and Euclid Ave. this week, too. Parts of both streets will be closed Wednesday through Saturday.

“Superman,” starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, flies into the theaters on July 11, 2025.
