Joey Morona, cleveland.com

Joey Morona (he/him) is an entertainment reporter and occasional film, TV and theater reviewer (critic?) for cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, the University of Central Florida graduate is a first-generation Filipino American, Tomatometer-approved critic, member of the Critics Choice Association (film division) and two-time film school rejectee. He also has extensive experience covering the Browns, Guardians and Cavaliers. Indeed, Joey has worn many hats in his journalism career, but his favorite is the fedora. Before joining cleveland.com in 1998, he worked as a producer at a local TV station where he claims to have come up with the phrase, "The news starts now!" His first job, if you must know, was in the mailroom at a D.C. law firm (Bill Clinton was a client!) in the 1990s. Ask him about his beagle, Marley, and sneaker collection, too! Not to be confused with his twin brother, you can reach Joey at jmorona@cleveland.com.
