Newcastle United stars Paul Dummett and Mark Gillespie were in Germany at the weekend to see England reach the semi finals of Euro 2024. And they were joined over there by the son of an NUFC legend as both players wore football shirts with Anthony Gordon's name on the back.
Less than a week after his contract with his boyhood club came to an end, defender Paul joined current keeper Mark, who recently got married in Italy, right in the heart of the action as Gareth Southgate's team aimed for a place in the last four against a Switzerland side who had been one of the surprise packages of the Euros this year.
Paul and Mark and their mates joined the droves of England supporters in Dusseldorf, well before kick off, with Alan Shearer's son Will also among the army of fans keeping everything crossed for a win for the Three Lions. And, having had strips with Shearer on during the day, there was a quick change for the lads before they headed into the Dusseldorf Arena, with both Paul and Mark sporting England's new home kit with Gordon 18 on the back, in honour of their teammate who hasn't seen too much game time at the Euros so far.

Just like all of England's games at Euro 2024, the quarter final against Switzerland was a rather scrappy affair, with the score staying at 0-0 until the 75th minute when Switzerland took the lead. Thankfully, unlike a week earlier against Slovakia, England didn't have to wait until the dying seconds to level things up, as Saka netted an equaliser five minutes later.
With the score still at 1-1 after extra time, the outcome was determined by spot kicks and thankfully for Paul, Mark and all of the England fans in Dussedorf, including Prince William, England scored every single one of their penalties and Jordan Pickford saved one from the Swiss, to see the team through to a semi final clash against the Netherlands on Wednesday.
After the announcement that he was leaving Newcastle this summer, Paul took to Instagram, to write'; "I grew up a Newcastle fan and a season ticket holder, joining the club as an eight-year-old. Leaving at 32, my time at Newcastle is something I could only have dreamed of.
"Twenty four years dedicating my life playing for Newcastle United, I leave with my held high and proud of the achievements we've had as a team, in my time here."
