Local authorities make efforts to prevent more dike breaks in Dongting Lake

Local authorities are working tirelessly to ensure the second dam holds after a dike breach in Dongting Lake in central China's Hunan province occurred on Friday afternoon.

The breach, at the dike in Tuanzhou township, Huarong county, under Hunan's Yueyang city, occurred at around 5:48 pm on Friday and has widened to about 150 meters as of 10 pm on Friday, according to People's Daily.
