Pros. The staff were especially helpful in identifying restaurants and bars to visit.
Pros. Hubby gave me a two night stay at the Auberge du Vieux-Port in Montreal for a Christmas present. It couldn’t have been better. We arrived on a Monday and after a bit of difficulty finding a place to park, checked in. The hotel staff were simply amazing. Every one from the cleaning staff to the valet were probably the most accommodating and kind and gave the impression that they really liked their jobs. We were surprised with a room upgrade to a king river view on the fifth floor-#503-ask for it. Ultra clean, very comfy bed, coffee maker in room and good toiletries. A HUGE shower with multiple jets no tub though but that was fine with us. The hotel has a bar pub that serves up pub fare. I had an excellent burger and great thin fries and hubby had the fish and chips. Both were quite large portions and the staff cheerfully accommodated some changes and ommisions. The best part is that the hotel is located centrally in Vieux-Port Port and between Isle de la Commune road and the famous and beautiful Rue St Paul. Fabulous restaurants and shops made it difficult to choose. Parking is off site and costs 25$ per night to self park or $35 for valet parking in a covered garage. We loved every minute in spite of the bone jarring cold and snow.....it just made it more magical. We will definitely be back!
Cons. Offsite parking.
Pros. Housed in an old port building, the modernized property combines the best of the old with contemporary updates. Riverfront views with the attractions of the Old Port just a block away, it’s easy to get anywhere you want to go. We stayed for a long weekend as the season was just winding down and thought the setting was romantic, service was delightful and amenities just right.
Cons. The walls were a bit thin, we could hear our neighbors clomping around in heels and could very easily hear conversation. This was all Day time stuff and didn’t have interrupted sleep at all.
Pros. Convenient location for walking.
Cons. There was a line at the check in/out desk. ONE employee, and she was sitting the entire time. Both when i checked in and out. There is ONE elevator, which was always so packed and with a line that the only time i used it was to carry our bags up to the room. Its noisy as hell there, 3am noisy as hell. The thermostat wouldnt work. Had something written on the knob to adjust the temps, but we were sweating to death all night, and into the morning. Roll away bed was not comfortable. And all this for nearly $500 US dollars a night?
Pros. Unique architecture (we had a floor to ceiling beam in the middle of our room tastefully painted to match the decor) and the food was great. Location exceptional for exploring Old Montreal. All in all a very nice experience.
