Mezcal Paloma cocktail recipe
Marcus Nilsson

Choose a mild mezcal that's not too smoky, like Amarás, for this twist on the paloma cocktail.

  • The previous reviewer's complaint about the amount of salt is misguided. The salt is just used to rim the glass! It doesn't actually go in the drink. You have to use an abundance of salt to actually get a decent amount onto the glass.

  • I understand the previous reviewers gripe about the salt, but let’s use some common sense here. Also, grapefruit soda (Squirt) is what makes a Paloma a Paloma. Syrup and club soda or whatever the reviewer discussed might be swell, but it’s not a Paloma. It’s also not a Collins. Additional grapefruit is not necessary. This is a highball, and should be treated accordingly.

  • This recipe makes no sense. It has no balance. Using a quarter cup of seasalt! No! And 6oz of soda, what's the point of the rest of the ingredients then? 1.5 mezcal .5 like .5 grape fruit juice (honestly this is optional, it will add more flavor but whatever you want, also depends on the glass size you use, I shoot for 10oz Collin's) 2 oz grape fruit soda. Or 1.5 mezcal 1 GF .5 like .5 agave syrup/ or Dem syrup (1:1/though 2:1 will give more body) Top with soda instead of GF soda. For both these recipes lightly shake to chill all ingredients minus the sodas and strain into a 10oz (or so) Collin's (or cup at home) filled with ice. Top with a pinch of salt or rim the glass with salt... ❤️
