Re: Listening to patients at all levels of healthcare
Dear Editor
Patient participation at all levels of healthcare obviously works. Not only do patients feel “heard”, as opposed to “listened to”, it is the most effective form of feedback. Filling in a form online to say your surgeon was brilliant is worlds away from being in the same room as part of a team with said surgeon and discussing pros and cons of delivering care.
Governments have become obsessed with measuring things. It should be obvious to anyone that involving patients in healthcare can only be for the good. Do we really need a metric to prove that?
