This article (BMJ 2024;384:q666, doi:10.1136/bmj.q666) has been corrected to change a misleading sentence about how the decline in real terms value of doctors’ salaries relates to cost of living. The sentence now reads: “This fall, which aligns with a 25% increase in the cost of living in the UK over the same period, is disproportionately affecting the purchasing power of lower grade doctors, the analysis found.”
