The Players At Team USA's Training Camp Voted LeBron James As The Best Player On The Court

So apparently The Athletic has been conducting polls the last couple summers to have players vote on who the top U.S. players in camp are. Last time they had the World Cup team vote, but since the access to this Team USA Monstars Team is a little more limited, they used voters from a pool of Select Team players and coaches. And the results came back as followed: LeBron James is the best basketball player in America.

And my response from this election:

Not a chance, right? When I first read the headline, I thought to myself, damn….we're going to get another 5 years of King James aren't we? I don't care if he's 40 years old….if you're the hands down best player on the court when the court includes Steph, KD, Embiid, AD, Kawhi, Tatum, and ANT….then how could you be contemplating retirement? Go score another billion points and put that record completely out of reach. But then when I read that it was the Select Team making the votes, I realized that this was simply a popularity contest of kids who grew up watching LeBron for the last two decades. Because if LeBron were the best American basketball player, the Lakers wouldn't have finished 7th in the Western Conference and lost 4-1 in the first round….

But here's how the Select Team + Coaches voted:

5 Votes: LeBron James

2 Votes: Steph Curry, Anthony Edwards, Jrue Holiday,

1 Vote: Joel Embiid, Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard, Bam Adebayo

Jrue Holiday out here getting 2 votes? No KD? BAM WITH A VOTE? I want to see some names next to these ballots and see who is casting these votes.

As for the Select Team player of the camp though, Cooper Flagg led the way with a landslide 9 votes. And it seemed like that one was well-deserved.

I can't wait to see this dude play college basketball next year. We might be having an all-time Tank Off next NBA season if footage like this keeps coming out.
