On the surface, Joel Embiid playing for Team USA in the Olympics is not a big deal. After all, the Cameroon native did move to the United States as a 16-year-old to play basketball at Montverde in Florida. In 2022, he became an official citizen of the United States. His wife and child are also Americans.

But you know what they say....don't let the truth get in the way of a good meme! And that is exactly what Twitter is doing:

Embiid has done more than enough to play for USA and that much is obvious. He is clearly very appreciative of playing in America and wants to represent the country he is a citizen in. I know many people will point at xenophobia for the backlash to Embiid playing for USA, but let's not forget that Embiid is a guy that NBA Twitter loves to rag on. As I started the blog with, you can't let the truth get in the way of a great joke.
