TUCSON, AZ (AZFamily) — The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in Tucson on Tuesday night.

Weather service officials said the twister was reported around 10:45 p.m. near Kolb and Valencia roads, about 2 miles north of Interstate 10.

A video from the area shows several downed trees and a tossed metal shipping container.

As of Wednesday afternoon, there were no reports of injuries.

The tornado packed winds of up to 110 mph.

Tornadoes in Arizona are extremely rare, according to state climatologists.

Arizona’s Family records revealed that the last time a tornado touched down in the state was in November 2023, when an EF-1 tornado ripped through Star Valley, a community northeast of Payson.

In 2010, at least 11 tornadoes were reported in the early morning hours of Oct. 6 in northern Arizona. According to the National Weather Service of Flagstaff, that outbreak became the greatest recorded tornado outbreak west of the Continental Divide.
