European Data Protection Board (EDPB)
The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) is an independent body in which all national data protection supervisory authorities from the European Union (EU) work together. The EDPB was established on 25 May 2018, the day on which the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) entered into force.

Composition of the EDPB
The EDPB consists of all chairpersons of the data protection supervisory authorities from the EU and the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS).
The Dutch DPA is represented in the EDPB by Aleid Wolfsen, the chairman of the Dutch Data Protection Authority. Since 2019, Wolfsen has been 1 of the 2 vice-chairpersons of the EDPB.
Tasks of the EDPB
The EDPB ensures consistent application of the GDPR and the Directive on data protection in the law enforcement sector throughout the EU.
The EDPB meets at least once every month. The EDPB adopts decisions and publishes recommendations, opinions, guidelines and best practices, with an explanation about the application of the GDPR, the Directive on data protection in the law enforcement sector, and other privacy issues.
With this explanation of the GDPR, the EDPB provides organisations with practical guidance on implementing the privacy legislation in their work.

Advice from the EDPB
The national data protection agencies have to submit certain decisions to the EDPB in advance to enable the EDPB to provide advice. For example, a decision on an international code of conduct or binding corporate rules.
