‘A spectacular night’: Wiggy shares firsthand view of Tom Brady Night in Foxboro

Patriot Nation celebrated Tom Brady Wednesday night at Gillette Stadium at his Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and WEEI’s Jermaine Wiggins and Christian Fauria were among the more than 100 former teammates of Brady in attendance.

Wiggy offered his reactions to “a spectacular night” Thursday morning on The Greg Hill Show during the show’s “Leads” segment (listen above).

“Last night was a spectacular night,” Wiggy said. “I think it was even bigger for the fans, because a lot of the stories, myself and Christian, we've heard these stories before. For us, it was really about seeing all those old teammates that we hadn't seen in so long and kind of sitting back and talking about the real fun war stories that you can't really say. For me, it was really getting to kind of kick it -- I told you, getting back with [Randy] Moss, we had a good time, my wife and I, because she's from West Virginia, she went to school with Randy. I got to meet his wife. We hung out, exchanged numbers.

“That was like the cool part to me. It was interesting, because there was a point in time when Peyton Manning and Brady were on the stage, and I'm like, ‘Yeah, I caught balls from both of those guys.’ Like I played with so many great guys and great players, and that was the thing that I was kind of talking about as I was driving home trying to listen to the Celtics game, and kind of telling my wife. It's like, here I am in Foxboro, a kid from East Boston that had no aspirations at all to play professional football. Would never have thought it in a million years, because who came from Boston? Who had that ability? Like I didn't even think about college, forget about playing football.

“And to be able to now sit there and look at a stage and see two guys and then be chopping it up with Moss, who is one of the greatest wide receivers to ever play, Hall of Fame guy, Ty Law. And it's like, wait a second, to be part of this was -- that was the, not emotional moment, but the like wow, to pick out of [Kevin Garnett’s] book, anything is possible moment. To be like, wow, I played with those guys, and to be here and to be friends with them and to get the respect from your peers, that was the biggest thing I felt like of the night. All the other stuff, the festivities were great. I think it's great for the fans.

“But it's really about when we come back together, it's like that family reunion, where you see guys that you hadn't seen in so long, they’re doing well. I saw J.R. Redmond, who's doing tremendous. He had some issues that he dealt with. Kevin Faulk. Vince [Wilfork] and I were chopping it up, and I didn’t even play with Vince. Our paths crossed just from playing in the league. So that was the thing, to be like, here I am, this kid from Eastie, never would have even dreamt it in a million years, and now I'm sitting here at Tom Brady's night. The greatest quarterback of all time to ever play the game, and I get to say I was teammates with him.”
