NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Dramatic photos show lightning striking the Empire State Building during Wednesday night’s storm.

The stunning images were taken from Hoboken as heavy rain and lightning rolled through the area after dusk.

The Empire State Building's X account had a one word reaction to the battering: "OUCH."

The storms had departed the Tri-State by Thursday morning, and the rest of the week will be quiet with a mix of sun and clouds, according to AccuWeather. But more storms may pop up Sunday and Monday.
