NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Dust off the window AC! It's beginning to feel a lot like summer.

As New York City gears up for Memorial Day weekend, temps are already on the rise, with highs in the 80s—and RealFeels in the 90s—expected through Friday.

Humidity is also up, and skies are largely sunny, much of this week ahead of the unofficial start to summer next Monday.

Tuesday's high of 82 degrees will tick up to about 85 degrees on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, according to AccuWeather.

The humidity will make it feel significantly hotter. RealFeels are set to be in the low 90s during the afternoon Tuesday–Friday.

This week's wildest weather will be on Thursday, when the heat and humidity are forecast to reach their peak. A heavy thunderstorm Thursday afternoon may bring flooding downpours, hail and damaging winds.

The humidity will subside somewhat by Friday, which should make for a very pleasant start to the Memorial Day weekend.

Saturday will be nice with a high of 75 and partly sunny skies, though another thunderstorm may pop up in the afternoon.

New York City's public beaches open for swimming for the season on Saturday. Lifeguards will be on duty daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Sunday, Sept. 8. Swimming is strictly prohibited at all other times, officials said as they kicked off the swimming season at Rockaway Beach on Tuesday. Find more info at NYCgovparks.org.

Sunday will be partly cloudy with a high of 80.

Memorial Day Monday is set to be quite nice. Highs will be in the mid-70s under passing clouds. A couple of showers are possible.

The sunny weather and 70-degree temps are expected to continue into next week as June begins.
