NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — The wing of a private plane was damaged while landing at Newark Liberty International Airport on Thursday afternoon, causing potential delays for travelers in and out of New Jersey.

According to Port Authority, one wing was affected during the 1:50 p.m. landing. The FAA said that the aircraft was a business jet for Embraer, an aerospace corporation, and that it went off the runway after landing.

A pilot and one passenger were on board, but no injuries were reported, transit officials said.

The runway will remain closed for an investigation into the landing, Port Authority said.

The FAA said that it is "slowing the flow of aircraft into Newark Liberty International Airport" due to the incident and that there was a temporary runway closure, reducing the airport's arrival capacity.

Arrivals and departures at Newark may be delayed during the investigation, Port Authority said.
