HOBOKEN, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- New Jersey Transit police are searching for the owners of a lost dog found riding a train alone Thursday morning, authorities said.

At about 7:52 a.m., the dog apparently followed an unrelated commuter and boarded a train at the Mountain Station in South Orange.

He then rode the train to the Hoboken Terminal, officials said.

Animal Control picked up and transported the dog to the Jersey City Humane Society.

Authorities have not been able to find his owner and he has no microchip. Anyone with information is asked to contact the NJ Transit Police by phone at: 1-800-242-0236 or 973-378-6565.
