According to a report from his family shared on social media, OJ Simpson has died at the age of 76 years old after losing his battle with cancer.
"On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer," the family said in a post to X.
Simpson, who was once a top NFL player, is best known as being the face of one of the most controversial court cases in American history.
In the 90s, Simpson was accused of killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman. He was later acquitted of the charges.
Simpson had reportedly been battling colon cancer in recent years and spent the last few months in hospice care as his condition worsened.
The post sharing his death noted that he was surrounded by family and love ones when he passed on Wednesday.
