I was very excited to get this and test it out. In my tv room I have a 9.1 setup with a 1000w subwoofer, so I enjoy audio.
The box is large and which is mostly packing material. I would imagine it would be damaged in shipping. When I took it out of the box it had three legs, a small booklet and three power cords. A nice fabric wrapped one, a European one and longer us version. When I originally read the description it had said something about wall mountable. It does not come with a wall mount and the description now doesn't say anything about it. On their website I can one for $150, seems like a lot but I may get it anyway.
Once I got the feet screwed in, easy, I picked it up and put in the corner and plugged it in. After downloading the app it was pretty straightforward to install even with the process jumping from one app to another.
After it was setup I did the calibration which was a 5 second thing. I'm used to an av receiver doing a 20 minute process and moving a mic around. I'm assuming this speaker is doing something to help flatten the nulls from room modes but really have no idea because they don't make it clear. For such an advanced piece of hardware it would be nice to know more for audio nerds.
After the calibration I played some music by casting it and had my wife try airplay. Both worked very well and had crisp clean sound. It sounded good, not room filling multi speaker good but directional robust sound. The bass was strong and fast with no distortion. The app gives some options for listening to different music. I'm making an assumption but it sounds like preset eq settings. It doesn't let you actually eq anything but does allow tone adjustments.
As other reviews have said it didn't have google assistant. The original description said it did but since has been removed. On their website they have two models for the same exact amount, one with Google and one without. Maybe this has to do with regions they sell it, not sure. Pretty big disappointment as I was hoping to be able to wall mount it and use the voice features. Hopefully they will come out with a way to unlock this based on location.
The end result is a good sounding speaker in a very very nice looking circle. Is a shame things like the wall mount and covers are so much. I would love to get choices in covers, maybe even for seasons since this is kind of a decoration.
Oh last thing which I forgot above is about getting the cover on. Before you try and get frustrated wait till you have a second pair of hands. I would never deduct a star for this but it was annoying.
