A MUCH more detailed review is forthcoming- my husband is the tech guru around here and he's the one that set up and is currently tweaking the speaker, so as we play around with settings and placement it might warrant a higher rating - or a lower one. But in the meantime I thought I would add a few notes about out-of-the-box playback and quality.

Set up was very easy, physically, but it took quite a bit of tinkering with both our new-ish (a few months old) Sony TV and the speaker settings on that TV to get the two pieces of equipment not to have a distracting out-of-sync delay between what was appearing on screen and coming out of the speaker. I know that's a natural part of Bluetooth, but for a speaker of this level, this should not be that much of an issue. We eventually had to order a cord and this thing will have to be directly tethered to out TV to get the two in sync.

Second major issue for me was indeed sound quality. We have a complicated acoustic situation because we live in a Florida house with crazy high ceilings (18 foot) in one part of the room and it's very difficult to find speakers that do indeed fill the space and offer rich sound AND clarity. I was expecting slightly more from this speaker. Again- we have more work to do as far as speaker placement and really fine tuning everything, but I was kind of shocked at how unimpressive the sound was straight out of the box.

We ARE spoiled with our Sony TV- the speaker (and everything else) that comes on board that TV is really wonderful for our situation and has constantly surprised and exceeded our expectations from the minute we plugged it in, and we got it several months ago and we're still not used to how incredible the quality is on it. This speaker is at the same price point, and to me I was not feeling like it changed the game as far as audio goes in the same way that the TV totally changed the game as far as visuals *and* audio for us.

It's unfair to take a speaker like this and just pair it with something like our TV and our phones and place it in the corner of our living room and rate it off that, I do understand that. I still want to test with different audio sources in different parts of our house- what this speaker was designed for. And I also want to test it with gaming on our PS4 and possibly going into VR with it (I play No Man's Sky a lot and would love a more immersive sound experience with that game)- it would be nice to have an external speaker that actually works with VR if we do go in that direction.

So I post this with a caveat: so far we're not blown away at all but we haven't explored all the potential for it. We are spoiled by having most of the investment electronics in our home being winners straight out of the box, so that's why I will update this review on an ongoing basis- it's unfair to give an item this caliber a quick review without really putting it through its paces. But right now, it's not living quite up to the hype or the price tag, at least with *our* setup.
