I have seriously debilitated hands due to arthritis, but with diligence and patience I put this together by myself. I had to use stools on each side as I was putting it together to hold the pieces upright where a 2nd person would have held them up. Absolutely use a drill. You cannot do this without one. If I could do this, anyone should be able to assemble it, and easily with a 2nd person. Because this is wood I suggest that you use the liner, and cut small holes in the bottom where the drain holes are because the liner doesn’t leak through. The liner will prevent the wood from rotting over time. I also put some pot risers that are grids under the dirt for drainage. Rocks would’ve been too heavy and cost too much. So far I used (4) 16 qt bags of dirt. After all the plants are up and established, and the dirt has settled, I will put another 8qts on top.
This is a very strong and sturdy trough. It has been a month since I put the dirt in and about 10 days ago I planted the hyacinths that are coming up already. I had to cover in a mesh tent because a squirrel was digging up the bulbs. My apartment balcony is about 4 ft deep and I hav plenty of room to work in the garden.
