If you do not like angst, then you are not going to want to read this duet. Kennedy Fox is the best at writing duets with an intense amount of angst. I could not wait to read about Sophie and Mason. We read a lot about them in the Baby Mine/ Baby Yours duet and you knew there was a lot of chemistry there. This time we get to see Mason and Sophie’s first time meeting, and how their relationship progresses (and occasionally regresses) over a couple years.
Even when they were not together, their sparks were just bursting. They really loved one another and struggled to find the best way to handle their relationship. I enjoyed watching them grow together and separately while dealing with some of the hardest things people could deal with. Sophie’s horrific experience with her ex boyfriend was one of the worst things to happen to her but also led Mason to be open with his feelings. Sophie has been hurt and damaged, she needs time to figure things out and Mason is determined to give her the space she needs while also letting her know he is there for her. Mason has loved her through everything, he loved her when he shouldn’t, he loved her when she was with someone else, he loved her when she was weak and he promised to wait until she was strong enough to love him back.
This duet was full of so much story aside from our friends to lovers story. Potential triggers of abuse, kidnapping, and murder were discussed in a very gentle way. This was full of suspense and surprises. I never knew what was going to happen next and I didn’t want to stop reading. When Sophie and Mason finally got together, it was heavenly. They are perfect for each other and I loved how sweet they were together.
“So… do you propose on all your first dates?” “Only on my very last first date.”
It was great being back with these characters that are starting to feel like family. We got to see more of Lennon and Hunter’s story and glimpses of where Maddie and Liam’s story is going to go.
“When she managed to wrap her arms around my waist, I feel her entire body shake as cries echo into the air. I hate hearing her sobs, but I know it’s what she needs to process and get through this. As terrible as it all was, I have to believe we’ll get through this.”

All thoughts and opinions are my own.This book does talk about domestic violence just a smidge.I can’t even begin to put words together to tell you how much I liked this book, LOVED this book. It had everything I had been looking for, suspense, second chance romance, alpha men and of course ends in a cliffhanger which only these ladies know to write to keep you on your toes. Thankfully book two comes out in month. I know the wait may seem long, but Mason and Sophie WILL get there HEA.If you read Lennon and Hunter’s book you got a chance to read chapter one in Mason and Sophie’s book. Sophie has been distanced from her sisters as well as the boys. All because she found a man who isn’t the greatest...AT ALL. Mason and Liam decide to talk to said boyfriend and in a tussle with Mason a gun goes off. Mason is handcuffed and taken into custody. The story picks up from there. You get to see how Mason’s dad acts to his son being arrested and Sophie moving in with Mason and Liam.Will Sophie take a chance and put everything out on the table for Mason? Will Mason get over his past to have a future with the one woman he has always wanted it with?I loved Mason and can’t wait to read about Sophie finding herself again. All of our favorite characters are back and I would recommend reading this book as your get more backstory of Maddie and Liam. I mean I don’t even know if their blurb is out yet, but this angst is going to be off the charts!This may have been a slow burn for some, but for me this was a perfect speed of second chances with a side of suspense.
