Do You Love Mascara? You Need This Product

A swipe of lipstick will brighten your lips, a dab of powder will matte your shine, and a smudge of liner will sex up your eyes. All true. But the laws of physics and the eye-makeup gods dictate that an extra coat of mascara will give you clumpy, crunchy, spidery lashes. That's why the geniuses at Urban Decay came up with Mascara Resurrection, a serum that breaks down dry mascara so you can reapply a fresh, smooth coat at the end of the day without having to start from scratch or worry that your lashes will be gross and stiff.

As with most great inventions, the science is simple and elegant. When you brush the clear formula through old mascara, panthenol and glycerin declump and hydrate lashes by drawing moisture to them, says cosmetic chemist Ni'Kita Wilson. This primes them for a new coat without requiring you to remove your makeup.

When we tried it, a few passes of the brush softened and separated our 6 P.M. lashes—without unleashing mascara dust on our cheeks. When we applied lengthening mascara over the serum, it layered on beautifully. But be warned: The serum doesn't pair well with volumizing mascara; the combination made our lashes look gloppy and fake.
