Traditional Microneedling Overview

What is microneedling? Traditional microneedling, also known as skin needling, is a minimally invasive therapy for skin rejuvenation. It includes collagen induction therapy (CIT) and percutaneous collagen induction (PCI) through which the needles puncture the skin and create a controlled skin injury to help produce new collagen and elastin.

The Main Benefits of a Traditional Microneedling Treatment:

  • Targets areas where mild scarring has occurred, or acne scar tissue is embedded deep into the layers of the skin.
  • Helps correct the appearance of uneven skin tone, caused by dark spots or hyperpigmentation.
  • Reduces large pore size.
  • Diminishes the appearance of stretch marks, fine lines, and deep wrinkles.

What to Expect

After 3-6 consistent sessions patients can expect to see the most optimal microneedling results. Though the skin needling procedure isn't nearly as invasive as other cosmetic procedures, your practitioner will apply a numbing cream to the treatment area to avoid discomfort of the fine needle pricking the skin surface.

Pre-Procedure and Post-Procedure Care

To prep the treatment area, it is essential to apply a specialized skin care product for the 2 weeks leading up to the microneedling procedure. Allow your skin to rest for 24 hours following the procedure, then continue applying your specialized skincare product for at least 2 full weeks. Designed to support the regeneration of healthy elastin and collagen, calm skin redness, and preserve optimal results of the treatment, our Regenerating Skin Nectar with TriHex Technology® is formulated using potent antioxidants and peptides to protect the skin barrier and reduce the appearance of redness as the skin heals after traditional microneedling or RF microneedling.

Following the skin rejuvenation treatment, minor skin irritation and redness may occur as a result. To begin the microneedling recovery process, it is essential to follow a microneedling aftercare routine to set your skin up for success and experience the full results of microneedling.

To further seal in moisture, apply an intensive hydration product to the skin, such as our Soothe + Protect Recovery Balm. After being treated with a microneedling device, skin tone and texture may appear uneven for a few days. The Soothe + Protect Recovery Balm is formulated with Physalis Angulata Extract, Chamomile Extract, and Shea Butter Triterpenes to support cell renewal and nourish the skin’s protective barrier post-procedure.

RF Microneedling Overview

RF microneedling uses radiofrequency energy that is delivered via small needles. RF energy heats the skins underlying layers, which causes the skin to tighten, while also stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. The RF energy is delivered deep into the dermis so it can help speed up results such as enhance scar reduction and skin tightening.

The Main Benefits of a Traditional Microneedling Treatment:

  • Diminishes fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Helps correct irregular skin texture and tone.
  • Helps reduce scarring from acne and chicken pox.

What To Expect

Most patients should expect to achieve desired results after 2-3 treatments, that should be spaced roughly 4 weeks apart. The number of treatments depends on how the individual responds to the treatment and the severity of the skin issue.
