In Mozambique, almost 80 per cent of reported violence is perpetrated against women and girls. Over the past four years, the UN's Spotlight Initiative has spearheaded a comprehensive approach to eliminating violence against women and girls that has changed lives and communities in the country.
From youth groups to women's economic empowerment activities, a whole-of-society approach is required to end violence against women and girls. From safe spaces for survivors to campfire sessions for only men to reflect and change attitudes and beliefs, from coordinating efforts across sectoral ministries to providing training for policy-makers and enforcement authorities and more, the Initiative is bringing about a systemic change.
Hear from survivors, community leaders, advocates, activists and change-makers who are working hand-in-hand to bring a long-lasting solution.
