  • Today marks the start of the week-long Farnborough International Airshow, which showcases the best of the global aerospace industry. To help facilitate the safe and efficient running of the event, we have a team of operational meteorologists on-site that is experienced in forecasting for aircrew. They have already been providing weather briefings and advice in the run-up week, as well as generating Farnborough Airport’s Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts. They will continue to work with the flying display director, airport operations team and pilots this week when a mix of flying will be taking place, to help them make informed decisions for the smooth running of the show and flight displays.      Farnborough International Airshow is the second largest airshow in the world, providing an international forum for the aerospace and defence industry since 1948 and covering key themes like sustainability, innovation and the future of the flight industry. • To meet the changing needs of the aviation industry, the World Area Forecast Centres, run by ourselves and NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, are constantly looking at ways in which we can improve and evolve.     In November, we are improving our World Area Forecast System datasets by updating the Significant Weather (SIGWX) forecast products. This will include specific changes to the T+24 SIGWX charts, and the new multi-timestep SIGWX charts becoming operational.     To explain the upcoming changes and actions to take ahead of the change, we are running a number of webinars. They are free to attend and aim to support everyone in the aviation industry using SIGWX charts.     The first webinar will take place on 23 July 2024 at 08:00 to 09:00 UTC, you can register at https://lnkd.in/euPbXhNp       Other available dates and times, covering the same aspects, are:       6 August, 15:00 to 16:00 UTC https://lnkd.in/enskieXg   8 August, 8:00 to 9:00 UTC https://lnkd.in/ez3r3bPN
