Section Editor (Head of Solved), Homes & Gardens

Future London, England, United Kingdom

Homes & Gardens is Britain's oldest decorating magazine. Aspirational yet accessible, stylish, sophisticated and indulgent, Homes & Gardens showcases classic design that stands the test of time.

If you're an experienced digital journalist who gets a buzz from writing expert-driven content and informative advice pieces, we want to hear from you! We're looking for an SEO expert who is goal-oriented and quality obsessed, and keen to be part of one of today's most successful homes media brands.

What You'll Be Doing...

As Head of Solved, you'll be responsible for leading a team that creates brilliant digital content on the practical side of homes (cleaning, organisation, laundry, maintenance and more). Solved is one of our most important content pillars, and our expert-driven and authoritative pieces help the audience maintain a beautiful space.

The right person for this role will be brilliant at creating evergreen SEO-first content and adept at jumping on trending topics to generate Discover or social-friendly short-order pieces. We're looking for a talented writer and editor who can seamlessly blend Homes & Gardens' brand values and elevated aesthetic with data-led decision-making and tactical thinking. With the support of the senior editors, you'll establish a content strategy for your section and lead a team to deliver it.

Experience That Will Put You Ahead Of The Curve...

  • Relevant editorial experience with a proven background in digital and the worlds of homes/gardens
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong visual sensibilities; commercial-first mindset combined with editorial nous. You need to be able to deliver top-flight content on a consistent basis
  • SEO expertise and a keen interest in and understanding of analytical tools, which you'll use to inform your content. A strategic thinker with an eye for detail
  • Management experience and leadership skills so that you can motivate your team to success.
  • A strong contacts book, with a clear interest in both celebrity media and interior design. An eye on the US design world is a bonus
  • Collaborative team player, with a resourceful can-do attitude, who thrives in a competitive, fast-paced environment; ability to work cross-functionally and directly with clients
