Revolut has grown rapidly and globally, becoming the lingua franca of banks across Europe, and setting its sights on being the world’s financial super-app. And now, the business has a banking licence in the UK, where it is headquartered. The authorisation, three years in the making, marks a huge step forward for both the digital challenger as well as the wider fintech scene. "It means that traditional banks are less defended by the regulators, and are exposed to being attacked by fintechs, who are better at running tight digital businesses,” Lex Sokolin told Digital Frontier. “The barbarians are past the gates.” Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gtxeRBPH

The future of nutrition is being revolutionised by AI and healthtech. Former Google engineer Wade Norris founded SnapCalorie, an app that uses AI to provide accurate calorie counts from meal photos, making food tracking more personalised and user-friendly. Other startups like January AI use AI to predict blood sugar levels, helping users manage glucose spikes. This app has gathered extensive data to provide precise dietary advice. Lifesum's recent acquisition of LYKON shows the trend towards integrating biological health data with personalized nutrition plans. Experts believe that as AI and wearable technology advance, nutrition guidance will become even more accessible and tailored to individual needs. This tech-driven approach aims to bridge the gap in health education and promote better eating habits. Discover how technology is transforming what’s on your plate: https://lnkd.in/gawxj258

Making it easier to invest in fine wine requires access to more data, tech-enabled trading and, ironically, greater liquidity. That's what Digital Frontier's Alys Key found out when she spoke to the innovators shaking up the opaque and sometimes archaic market for her feature in our first print edition, which is available in shops and online now. We hear from Callum Woodcock, CEO and founder of WineFi 🍷, who explains how he is targeting first-time investors and even non-drinkers to add Bordeaux or Champagne to their portfolios. Tom Gearing, CEO and co-founder of Cult Wines, breaks down his business’s efforts to solve wine’s data problems, while WineCap's Martin Pruszynski gives an overview of how the sector has changed in the past 15 years. What this viral trend says about Zoomers and the future of how we’ll learn. Cat memes have recently taken on a new life, however, being paired with disjointed historical lessons or reenactments of events like the Napoleonic Wars, the German invasion of Poland or the Cuban Missile Crisis. Tiktok accounts like historycatmemes, simplystatedhistory and realmadwolf475 have popularised this content. While some view these videos as “TikTok brain rot”, others consider them an engaging and humorous way to learn. But the question remains - Cat memes as educational tools: unhinged or useful? Co-founder and CEO Tim Chong sat down with us in the loyalty card’s London office to discuss making a splash with “Pint Protection” this summer and becoming the lifestyle companion in your pocket. Originally a card for Londoners, Yonder curates experiences across cities the UK — from dinner at Fatt Pundit and drinks at Peckham Cellars to tickets to Hamilton and yoga retreats. Users can choose to either earn or redeem points at these hand-picked experiences. “We all have a friend that we always ask, where do you go to? And they’re not the places on Tripadvisor. And for us, we see ourselves as being that trusted friend.” The plan is to eventually have experiences across the world so that Yonder is the go-to for recommendations and rewards where you live and where you travel.
