💸 COST PRESSURE 📈HR functions in larger corporates are under significant cost pressure, despite the FTSE100 reaching an all-time high today. 📉Downsizing within the function is being felt most acutely in the TA and Talent CoE's but is also impacting some HR Business Partners. 3️⃣I've spoke with at least 3 organisations looking intently for which aspects they can outsource (primarily to India) and what must remain onshore. 💰The below article is a good analysis on the FTSE100. Not really what I wanted to see on a Friday afternoon. Gallup's recent State of the Global Workforce 2024 report, claims that 90% of the UK workforce feel disengaged at work and are "quiet quitting# and that low employee engagement cost the UK over £257 billion annually or 11% of its GDP. Despite these high levels of disengagement and employees feeling dissatisfied in their roles, only a third of UK employees a seeking a new job. Lower levels of job vacancies mean that many of the quiet quitters are also stuck where they are #quietquitting #employeeexperience #employeeengagement

😡 Talent Acquisition teams are not being valued. Following Josh Bersin's very insightful report on the Talent Acquisition function, People Management have written an article. A couple of stand-out sentences: As one TA leader told us: “We are considered a low-cost fulfilment centre – and that’s not the value we provide.” 32% of TA leaders are involved in any form of strategic workforce planning. A high 42% believe their company lacks any workforce plan altogether, while 46% say keeping up with day-to-day demands feels like running around to keep up. https://lnkd.in/eNSCiTx5

What's happening with DEI and why is it waning? Two brilliant organisations, in what feels like as many months, Women Who Code & Tech Talent Charter, have folded. Both have driven substantive and positive change over the years. But the work is definitely not done. We're still so far from levelling the playing field. This is largely down to a lack of funding and a growing malaise to invest in DEI. Maybe initiatives haven't worked, maybe they haven't been bold enough, maybe attitudes and mindsets haven't shifted far enough (regressing even), maybe it feels too hard...who knows. But to stop trying is nothing short of madness. Here's why..... Innovation is what enables companies to stick around and grow. Innovation requires diversity. To be a diverse organisation you need to be inclusive. This takes a concerted effort and investment from most organisations as they are a fair way off the mark. This takes time and money and a genuine desire + commitment to be a better more inclsuive business. Not to fake it. It's not about quotas folks. Investment in DEI when done well, will pay off, as the companies who invest will innovate more, will build brilliant products and will stick around. If you don't believe me here are the stats... 👉 Organisations in the top quartile for ethnic diversity have a +36% likelihood of financial outperformance. 👉 Diverse companies earn 2.5x higher cash flow per employee. 👉 Inclusive teams are over 35% more productive. 👉 Diverse teams make better decisions 87% of the time. It's a no brainer 🧠 This news makes me sad, really really really sad. DEI should be part of all organisations business strategies not a 'nice to have' when we flick the I give a F**K switch back on.
