Why do people lie?! 🤯 I hear so many horror stories from clients who have been stung *badly* in the past. Who have been sold things that is 💩 covered in 🦄 (there is no glitter emoji!) 😢 And it makes me so sad that it leaves some people doubting their ability to make good decisions - let alone putting some into serious financial trouble People who are: 🤯 Selling "Certified" courses and they’re not certified 🤯 People claiming to be "master qualified" coaches who aren't 🤯 Selling courses branded as masterminds, that have 0 personalisation ⛔️ It MUST stop. It’s the smoke and mirrors sh💩t that pisses me off online. Don't get me wrong... There is SO much good out there and I wouldn't be where I am now without the online space of LinkedIn and social media. And there are great courses and great coaches out there that aren’t accredited and that get people amazing results.   The problem that gets my goat and my strong need for justice, fairness and transparency - is saying something is something, when it’s not true... ❌ "Just because it will sell more" ❌ 🤷‍♀️ 'Cause that’s lying...! I seriously don’t know how these people sleep at night : when they’re basically selling snake oil 🐍 Whoever is teaching and condoning this, it needs to stop ❌ Now. I’m looking to speak to any menopause experts who have knowledge around disability and menopause for a feature in Enable magazine. I’m particularly looking at how menopause symptoms can be passed off as being part of an existing disability, such as joint pain or anxiety, leading to women not getting the menopause support they need. Would you enter into a battle with no armour, no protection and no tools…? If you did, it might feel like you’ve just walked into a ‘typical’ couples counselling session. This is why I’d like to outline the key difference between the coaching that I do with clients, rather than the counselling they tell me they’ve tried elsewhere. Let’s say you’ve just signed up with a counsellor… In the first session you would likely be asked to discuss your biggest challenge head on. Open up on how you are feeling. List examples of when you felt like this and remind your partner how often this has been happening. In all likelihood, you’ll be entering into another argument. Albeit, there might be a counsellor there who can referee to some degree. No tools No strategy and No way in which you can approach the conversation differently. Yes, it’s useful to talk things through and of course that’s an important part of the process… But the only benefit you really have is the fact that there’s another person in the room with you. You’re going into that conversation with no other approach, other than the normal way you talk about that challenge, so it’s very likely you’ll end up with the same result. This is why my clients find traditional counselling and couples therapy so limiting and frustrating. What I do in my coaching program is very different and here’s why… Before we approach any challenges, I start by stabilising the foundations. I show you how you can look at things through a different lens. And how some of the stories you might be telling yourself are the ones that are holding you back. You’ll learn how your brain is ultimately trying to protect you, but it’s coming across as defensiveness and critical. And it’s not allowing you to consider a different perspective. My program gives you a clear process to follow… So you can approach things in a different way. You can use a step by step method, some tools and easy to follow techniques… So you can have the best conversation you’ve ever had about a really tough topic. Maybe a topic that’s been holding you back for years. And this gives you an opportunity for change. Understanding each other’s perspective. And plan what you’re going to do about that challenge moving forward. That is completely different to just diving into things with no strategy and no roadmap. And that’s why I believe my coaching program offers the transformations it does, because we’re not just sitting in a room talking about your problems. Research has highlighted neurotransmitters such as -> Dopamine, -> Noradrenaline, -> Serotonin and ->GABA All have a role to play in ADHD symptoms. Understanding Hypnotherapy Hypnotherapy is gradually becoming more mainstream, but it’s still a therapy that many people don't fully understand. When people discuss hypnosis, they often think of stage hypnosis, which is mainly entertainment involving people doing silly things. Some believe that hypnosis can make people act against their will or morals. However, the reality is that participants in stage hypnosis willingly choose to be part of the show and usually enjoy the experience. In therapeutic settings, hypnosis involves extensive discussions beforehand. The trance states are typically very relaxing, and the therapist ensures a comfortable experience. Some people compare it to daydreaming or meditating. You might feel sleepy and relaxed, or you could be deeply immersed in your own thoughts, or the narrative provided by your hypnotherapist. The National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), the largest non-profit hypnotherapy professional association in the UK, explains that hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention that everyone experiences several times a day. During hypnosis, your mind might wander or daydream, like when you are absorbed in a good book or watching a film. Brain scans of people in a hypnotic state show brain wave activity similar to meditation or the early stages of sleep. Think about a time when you've misplaced something and, after searching for ages you decide to take a break.  Later, while watching TV or making dinner, a memory suddenly pops into your mind of where you last saw the item. This is your mind processing information behind the scenes, which we refer to as the ‘unconscious mind.’ In hypnotherapy, we harness this unconscious processing to help you achieve your goals and desires. Your unconscious mind influences behaviours and emotions. By connecting with and communicating with this part of yourself, you can resolve inner conflicts and make changes more easily. I've had a few clients recently wanting to work on how to have potentially sensitive or 'difficult' conversations of one form or another. Whilst I tend not to find anticipation of a 'difficult' conversation useful (after all, its not like a sabre tooth tiger is really coming at us and we need our brains to work with us on this!), I do love working in this space. As a reformed people pleaser it's an area dear to my heart that's made a huge difference in my life over the years. It's reminded me of some years ago, in a Change Leadership role for a large corporate, when I was supporting leaders with culture change. We were reviewing the high level data on outcomes from the latest round of performance and development conversations and were faced with the glad tidings that the entire team in our part of the business were either performing well or performing exceptionally well. The only issue with the data was that leaders were speaking with me about team members who needed significant development and support with performance challenges and certainly weren't at a level to be described as performing well! - We had a mismatch. Further exploration and curious questioning revealed the real issue - many leaders weren't comfortable in having conversations about poor performance or development areas. It was a real turning point for us - personally I had the opportunity to develop my first 'Real Conversations' workshop, which I delivered to my leadership teams and supported with coaching around specific scenarios they were struggling with. For sure next round we could be more confident in knowing that, whilst our data didn't look so beautiful, it was closer to reality and could truly support us in targeting performance and development needs and making real change. And as leaders isn't this what we need to do? ... be prepared to have those conversations that, whilst they may feel uncomfortable, are about what's really going on and edge us into that space of making a real difference to our people, organisations and clients ... I still love Susan Scott's book, 'Fierce Conversations' in this space. It's been around a while but it's a classic that I highly recommend if this is an area of interest to you.
