UK small businesses are showcasing resilience amidst economic challenges, with a notable 1.4% increase in hiring during Q1 2024, marking the strongest growth in two years. However, while wage growth climbed to 3.3%, sales growth remained sluggish, particularly in March, influenced by an early Easter. On the Touchpoint Group Insights Session for April, recent customer feedback has highlighted a recurring theme regarding the involvement of a third party, sparking curiosity and concern within our team. This issue revolves around customers' hesitance to consent to Virgin's data-sharing practices, which appear to be a prerequisite for app usage. This revelation has raised significant apprehension among users, as evidenced by the feedback received. Despite our structured framework for collecting customer feedback, the topic of third-party data sharing had not been previously categorised. Nonetheless, through diligent analysis, we've unearthed this pressing concern. Most notably, these complaints surged in the final week of April, warranting a closer examination of this time frame. To gain deeper insights into this emergent issue, we have narrowed our focus to customer reviews between April 24th and April 30th. This targeted approach aims to provide a succinct summary of prevalent themes and sentiments expressed during this critical period. Leveraging our integration with OpenAI, we anticipate a comprehensive analysis of customer comments, facilitating informed decision-making for our insights and product teams. The integration of our platform with OpenAI enables us to delve into the nuances of customer feedback, particularly concerning the contentious issue of third-party data sharing. By dissecting comments and classifying them into actionable themes, we empower our teams to address user concerns effectively, ensuring a seamless user experience moving forward. For those that haven't come across Slip yet we have identified the humble receipt as one of the most under appreciated assets in the retail world. Digital receipts have been around for a while, but it feels like the industry has gone stale, with very little innovation and focus on the consumer (sounds a lot like the payments universe a decade or so ago!) Our mission is to transform the receipt from a passive transaction record into a dynamic instrument of engagement, insight, and business growth, all while elevating the experience for shoppers. Through integrating with existing retail systems Slip is developing a new marketing channel for retailers to engage, at a personal level, with their store shoppers. Exciting times ahead 🚀

One very valuable breakfast 🥐 Teddy Ludmer and I hosted our first Partnership Leaders Breakfast Club in London this week!
