Here's how you can tap into your existing network to propel your career growth in leadership.
Leaders often speak to feeling lonely, but there is a discernible difference between 'feeling' alone and actually 'being' alone. Despite having numerous people around them in their personal and professional lives, leaders can still experience a sense of isolation. Here’s how to address it: 1). Create your trusted tribe. This can include friends, family members, colleagues. 2). Be clear on the hats you need them to wear - truth teller, checks and balances, accountability partner, champion, challenger. 3). Invest in and leverage this group. As a leader there will be days where you need to vent or where you need somebody to tell you things others won't. It will help with balanced decision-making.

Your team is resistant to change. How can you address their fears and lead them through it?
Human beings are biologically wired to crave certainty, and the messy middle of change can create discomfort. My key lesson here is: **Transparency is Equity**. Share as much information as possible, to avoid the unhelpful water cooler conversations, which can prove incredibly toxic. Create a safe space for team members where they can voice their concerns, ask questions, and share their thoughts. This not only helps to dispel rumours and misinformation but also builds trust.

You're dealing with a senior team member. How can you provide feedback without overshadowing their authority?
Feedback to leaders is often given as the polished apple, which means leaders blind spots remain blind and they are missing a valuable learning opportunity. Leaders don't know what they don't know unless people around them share and disclose. I would encourage you to: 1). Share your intent clearly. 2). Give thought to the environment. Where possible ensure there are minimal interferences, in order that you can have an open conversation. 3). Be specific. Often people shy away from giving the 'real' feedback, which means much of what is shared remains open to interpretation. 4). Remember the WHAT and HOW you say it are equally important. r reasons why. This is about WHAT you say and also HOW. 5). Elaborate on headlines, to add context.

You're struggling to connect with your boss. What techniques can you use to manage up effectively?
Having a good relationship with your boss is critical. They play a pivotal role in your professional growth, including appraisals and end-of-year compensation discussions. This relationship shouldn't be underestimated. Here are 5 powerful insights to help you build and strengthen rapport: 1. Give thought to what they care about. What matters to them? 2. Find common areas of interest. Your boss is also a human-being and has hobbies outside of work. Finding common areas of interest will help you connect. 3. Understand their priorities and align your efforts accordingly. 4. We live in a time vacuum. Keep updates clear, concise and interesting. 5. When they support you. Thank them. We all like to feel appreciated - no matter how senior.
