We're on a mission to empower agents of behavioural change around the world! And it has taken us so many places! These days we’re mostly doing our globe-trotting online through virtual workshops. But we’re always happy to travel to wherever our clients need us. Kristian Lees Bell recently delivered a workshop in Saudi Arabia on Leading with Influence for a client in the engineering sector. From the feedback, it's clear that the participants learned a lot! They especially liked learning how to improve their storytelling and use body language and a 'hook' to draw listeners in and keep them engaged. By working with people across cultures and borders, we hope to play a part in improving the world of work worldwide. #worldwide #businesspsychology #leadership #highperformingteams #SaudiArabia

    • Futuristic map of the world with pins in locations on almost every continent to represent where Zircon has been. A quotation box pointing to Saudi Arabia contains feedback from a recent workshop: "It was a really great session. Very well done, inspiring and helpful... Thank you to the instructors. If only the session had been longer!"

How impactful was 'work experience' when you did it? If you focus on creating a great (repeatable) experience it can be powerful for all parties with too much effort. It's all about building muscle memory. Well done Emily Willis for your work on this for us. I have been so impressed with the output of our recent students. Well done Sophia Lees.

It’s World Youth Skills Day, a day for promoting young people as agents of peace who have much to contribute to the working world. Zircon’s own work experience student Sophia Lees has some ideas for organisations wanting to offer more opportunities to young people.   According to McCrindle, Gen Z will make up 22% of the global population and 27% of the global workforce by next year. That’s quite a lot of potential agents of peace!   Society, education systems, and the working world will need to make space for this increasing demographic. Good-quality work experience and apprenticeships, well-designed internships, and volunteering initiatives can provide entry points into the labour market for first-time jobseekers and young graduates. Gen Z is seen overall as a positive addition to the workplace, improving professionalism and productivity with their ambition, creativity, innovation and social responsibility (Racolţa-Paina and Irini, 2021). So, the development of young people is not only important, but could be key to further growth and positive culture in organisations.   The CIPD found that young people with work experience before graduation are more likely to receive work opportunities – but of those in planned placements, only 39% rated the quality of their work experience placement highly.   So, what makes the ideal high-quality work experience? Read on to see what Sophia suggests.   Join us in our commitment to providing young people with skills and opportunities to address challenges and contribute to a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable future. If you are interested in enhancing your organisation’s work experience offering and want to learn how others are doing it, connect with Angela Malik, our Early Careers Practice Lead. #workexperience #earlycareers #worldyouthskillsday

At the 2024 The Association for Business Psychology Conference this year, we asked the brilliant attendees to suggest a new topic for us to research and record for the podcast. It was difficult to choose but in the end, we selected the title offered by Simon Gander: What is the strength of introversion and why is it misunderstood and underappreciated? We’re looking forward to researching this one and especially getting stuck into the neuroscience of introversion. Thank you to everyone who made such excellent suggestions. #personality #introversion #introvert #neurodiversity
