Great to see our recycling code marked spar spreader pictured in this Aviation Week Network article by John Walton. At Unum, we’ve collaborated with the Green Cabin Alliance (GCA) on a solution that involves adding a material identifier code to each and every part number in our seats, referenced to the Component Maintenance Manual (CMM) and the GCA’s website. Writing for Runway Girl Network after his experience at Aircraft Interiors Expo, John Walton shared his thoughts on the new communication standard helping to combine cabin component data to gain new insights. One of the specific use cases mentioned was our Unum One business class seat with a Bühler Motor actuation system on the Unum stand, live reporting on status (operational, reclined/upright etc.) to the main systems display in the i+s cabin conference room. It’s work experience time for the aerospace engineers of the future 💺🌎 This week, we welcomed Robbie McInnes, studying BEng Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics at University of Glasgow. Over the next few weeks, Robbie will get hands-on experience across all the engineering disciplines at Unum, plus advanced product development of a mechanism for one of our award-winning seats. Already halfway through his first week, Robbie says, 'It's been great to apply some of my learnings to developing a real-world solution for the business class seating sector. I can’t wait to see some of my work on a future Unum seat'.
