Delighted to share a paper (High-resolution long-term average groundwater recharge in Africa estimated using random forest regression and residual interpolation) just published in the EGU’s Hydrology and Earth System Sciences journal that has been led by a former MSc student at UCL Geography whom I co-supervised. Anna Pazola is currently a PhD student at Brunel University (UK) and I am her tertiary supervisor. #freshwater #groundwater #africa #machinelearning #ai

#UCLRDR undergraduate student Arabella Liu summarises her participation in London Climate Action Week as part of her research internship at International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI). Well done, Arabella! 👏
BSc Global Humanitarian Studies student at UCL | ICSI Summer Associate | Youth Ambassador at the Roundhouse Trust
It was an engaging week for me at the London Climate Action Week with ICSI. The event was convened by International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI), High-Level Climate Champions and Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), kindly hosted by Bentley Systems. Industry leaders discussed topics around building more resilient and sustainable infrastructure. Following a guiding question -how can tech help create the right enabling environment for climate-resilient infrastructure? There were a few key takeaways: 🔑 Evidence-based decision-making: There is a need for more high capability models, whole system modeling and simulations 🔑 Data: Need to be high quality and accessible 🔑 Democratizing technology: We need more accessible and scalable solutions. Technology would be helpful only if it develops with people The guiding question reflects the main topic of the upcoming 3rd issue of ICSI’s Climate Resilient Infrastructure report series, A Focus on Technology. The report will explore how digital technologies can enhance decision-making for #climateresilience and #adaptation throughout the lifecycle of #infrastructure. I’m excited to conduct research for this report during my internship at ICSI. Read more about the series: https://lnkd.in/d8avs4PT
