Yesterday, we unveiled the newest addition to NE1’s Summer in the City programme - NE1's Tiny Toon in association with Tyne & Wear Metro. This brand-new immersive play village features mini versions of local landmarks and businesses, providing a space where children can let their imaginations and creativity run free. Located in Old Eldon Square until 1st September, NE1's Tiny Toon is set to be a must-visit for families in Newcastle this summer and we’re delighted to have worked with the city’s businesses to create our mini activation including a Metro train, the Tyne Bridge, Eldon Square, Newcastle Theatre Royal Trust Limited, My Delhi Indian Streetery, Olive & Bean, and the historic Grainger Market. Make sure you check it out this summer and enjoy the range of activities across the whole of Old Eldon Square!

What a fantastic turnout at our Pride Business networking event this afternoon! Held in the new city centre location of the entertainment arena ahead of Northern Pride this weekend, Kerry Mc Cabe welcomed everyone before NE1's Chief Executive Stephen Patterson spoke, celebrating NE1’s 10th year sponsoring Northern Pride and how proud we are to support the event and community. Kim McGuinness Mayor of the North East, then spoke, sharing her support and the importance of the event and of bringing people together. This was followed by Huw Lewis FCIPR, MA from Nexus & Tyne & Wear Metro who announced the return of the fantastic "kids travel free with a paying adult" campaign across the North East as we enter the school summer holiday season. We also heard from Ste Dunn about all the exciting activities happening this weekend as Northern Pride takes over Newcastle’s city centre under this year’s theme of "Unapologetically Visible." A huge thank you to Ste for giving us our now customary exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse before the event's official launch! We hope Northern Pride has a fantastic weekend and, hopefully, some sunshine!

Head of Rail Infrastructure Maintenance at Nexus & Non-Executive Director of Grassroots Football at Northumberland Football Association
It’s been a superb morning in the sun looking at our assurance activities and assets at a glance, and having the pleasure of joining our colleagues at Kier Construction to witness the superb Engineering works taking place to restore Whitley Bay canopy to its former glory. Very impressed with the design improvements of the installations of walkways with a man safe system which will enable Nexus infrastructure asset management inspections and maintenance to take place safer and more effective. You can’t help but appreciate the tremendous efforts those involved are working hard around the clock to preserve the heritage of this iconic structure which our customers in North Tyneside will enjoy for generations to come.
