📰 In February, the government introduced a milestone legislation, as part of the Environment Act 2021, aimed at ensuring wildlife habitats are left in a better state than before development to support nature's recovery. Following the introduction of the new legislation, developers in England are required to deliver 10% biodiversity net gain when building new houses and commercial developments. We’ve advised one of Europe’s most prominent construction waste and collection companies, Sortera, on the acquisition of Reston Waste Management Ltd, in a deal which makes Sortera the largest independent construction waste company across Greater London. The team was led by corporate partner James Webb and managing associate Yervand Agobiani, supported by Kirsty Wilson and David James.
