This summer we're recommending books that are all by female authors. Why? Well, research by Mary Ann Sieghart for her book The Authority Gap, shows men are reluctant to read female authors – and this has real world implications. For the top 10 bestselling female authors (in the UK) only 19 percent of their readers were men. Why does this matter? 'If men don’t read books by and about women, they will fail to understand our psyches and our lived experience. They will continue to see the world through an almost entirely male lens, with the male experience as the default.' Mary So, let's all pick up more books by female authors this summer.... Specialist coaching company that supports organisations to create the conditions for all talent to thrive.
About us
We help high performance business cultures to support their talent and have a positive impact on families and society. Our original focus was on women because this was, and often still is, the group where the potential positive difference can be greatest. Founded by executive coach, Helen Cowan, in 2017 The Tall Wall brings together outstanding coaches located across three continents. We work with our clients to: - Identify what holds them back. - Understand themselves and realise what could be possible. - Overcome their limitations to achieve their goals. Our story Helen Cowan started her career at the sharp end of the professional services industry and latterly, trained as a coach in KPMG. Coaching became her passion and connects viscerally with her belief in equal opportunities in the workplace When The Tall Wall was founded it was to take this passion to the wider professional services sector and beyond. The Tall Wall’s particular focus is on working with talented women to empower them and enable them to make the most of their potential, without reliance on positive discrimination. Empowering women remains central to our philosophy and is expanding and evolving with each engagement. Our practice affords a privileged insight into the workings of the wider culture in which our clients seek to advance and operate. Consequently, we have seen the benefit to organisations of coaching all their talent, not exclusively women. For the teams and businesses to really thrive, the playing field needs to be level which means empowerment without bias and a remit that includes men.

Well done University of Oxford, increasing paternity leave. A move in the right direction, for #genderequity 👏
Speaker | Author | BBC1 documentary presenter | Equal parenting, redefining masculinity & male allyship | Founder, MusicFootballFatherhood | Created #ParentingOutLoud for working dads
The University of Oxford have increased their paternity leave to 12 weeks! When market leaders make bold moves, others tend to do the same. So this is great news for working fathers and parents across Higher Education. The enhanced paternity leave offer is available from day one of employment and 10 of the 12 weeks will be fully paid. This policy will support working dads at Oxford University to build a bond with their baby, support their partner and adjust to their new life as a parent. We know that this is a critical time for a new family and enhanced paternity leave supports the mental health and wellbeing of both parents as well as helping their baby to form a secure attachment with their caregivers. Dads who take enhanced paternity leave are also more likely to work flexibly when they go back to work so it's great for equal parenting and gender equality at work and at home. Now the policy is introduced, it's about the culture change work to ensure the dads take the full 12 weeks. Our Parenting Out Loud campaign and culture change programme is all about building workplace cultures where dads can be loud and proud about their caring responsibilities at work. Well done University of Oxford and Jennifer Chapin for making it happen 👏 👏 👏 #PaternityLeave #ParentingOutLoud #EqualParenting #GenderEquality

The Tall Wall reposted this
This week, I’m enjoying my first work trip abroad on behalf of The Tall Wall - working with a lovely law firm client in Dublin. As it’s my first time in Ireland, yesterday I managed a whistle-stop tour of the sights before my workshop with a group of junior lawyers this morning. It’s fitting that we’re focusing on time management and personal effectiveness skills as I’ve relied on these myself this week to prioritise my time and fit in as much as possible. It’s also key to focus on the ‘important’ (and not just ‘urgent’) to create some downtime during a work trip and make the most of this wonderful city. Hoping for a return visit soon! #worktravel #lawfirms #juniorlawyers #timemanagement #personaleffectiveness #downtime #urgent #important #prioritisation #wellbeing
