The final part of our Yorkshire Olympic Games was a Closing Ceremony that consisted of a Breakfast Of Champions for those who took part! Our Yorkshire Olympic Champs were thrilled to receive breakfast hampers that contained trophies, flags, confetti, and medals, as well as everything they needed for a healthy Olympic Games breakfast party. Massive thanks to Morrisons for their generous donation of croissants! Wishing Well had a great time celebrating their wins, as did the Outer York and Leeds region, who chose to have their Breakfast Of Champions party in a local park as it was such a nice day! 😎 Well done everyone, you certainly are star athletes! 🎉🥇🏆 #TheYorkshireOlympics #Inclusivity #Sports #TheOlympicGames #TheOlympicGames2024 #WWFT #InclusiveSports #ClosingCeremony

Our next Yorkshire Olympics event is Plane Javelin - participants must throw a paper plane, and each participant gets five attempts to throw. The person who throws the plane the longest distance wins. Our individuals had so much fun playing this, the joy they expressed while throwing the planes is clear to see in this short film. Many also enjoyed learning a bit of Origami when creating the planes to throw - making paper planes is a multifaceted activity that engages various cognitive, motor, and social skills. It provides an enjoyable and educational way to stimulate the brain, enhance learning, and develop a range of important abilities. It also promotes problem-solving and critical thinking. Most of our individuals also chose to get creative with this exercise, and decorate their paper plane for the competition, so each of them had a unique and identifiable plane to throw! 😊✈ #TheYorkshireOlympics #Inclusivity #Sports #TheOlympicGames #TheOlympicGames2024 #WWFT #InclusiveSports #PlaneJavelin #PaperPlanes

It's time for our next Yorkshire Olympics event - Balloon Volleyball! The object of the game is to hit the balloon between participants, not allowing the balloon to touch the ground. The highest number of touches before the balloon touches the ground is the winner. Balloons are a simple yet highly effective tool for sensory games. They offer rich, multi-sensory experiences that can aid development, learning, and therapeutic activities. Activities involving balloons, such as catching, hitting, or balancing, promote motor skills and hand-eye coordination. And the playful nature of balloons can evoke joy and laughter, which are beneficial for emotional well-being. Our individuals in Scarborough did so well at this game that they lost count of how many times the balloons were hit, so decided everyone was a winner! Over at Sherburn House however, there was one clear winner, and it was Megan - well done Megan! Meanwhile, over at Station House in Outer York, Lukka earned herself a certificate too. Well done to all that took part - it was a lot of fun for individuals and support workers alike! 😊🎈 #TheYorkshireOlympics #Inclusivity #Sports #TheOlympicGames #TheOlympicGames2024 #WWFT #InclusiveSports #BalloonVolleyball

Our next Yorkshire Olympics event is the Egg and Spoon Hurdles! Each athlete must weave between the cones with an egg on a spoon, whoever can do this longest without dropping the egg is the winner. Our Scarborough crew had a great time competing in this event. Paul was the winner, and you can see him proudly holding up his certificate at the end of the film! 😃🥚 Stay tuned for more fun and games with The Wilf Ward Family Trust Yorkshire Olympics! #TheYorkshireOlympics #Inclusivity #Sports #TheOlympicGames #TheOlympicGames2024 #WWFT #InclusiveSports #EggAndSpoonRace

It's time for our first Yorkshire Olympics event - The Great Yorkshire Pudding putt! The object of the game is to lay the target out on the ground, individuals get 3 Yorkshire puddings each, and 2 attempts at throwing the Yorkshire puddings into the rings on the target. There are points for each of the different coloured rings on the target, those with the highest scores are the winners! At The Wilf Ward Family Trust, Yorkshire Puddings are a beloved cuisine. A lot of the individuals we support love to make them from scratch, especially as part of a Sunday Roast. Did you know that Yorkshire puddings have a long history that traces back to the 18th century in England? The dish was devised as a way to make use of the fat that dripped from roasting meat, and they were originally called 'dripping puddings'. As you can see, everyone had a great time competing in this event, and an even better time eating the Yorkshire puddings too! 😋 #TheYorkshireOlympics #Inclusivity #Sports #TheOlympicGames #TheOlympicGames2024 #WWFT #InclusiveSports #YorkshirePuddings
