🌍 Nature risks are too big to ignore. Following the launch of the Spring engagement process – an investor stewardship nature initiative supported by over 200 investors managing US $15 trillion – the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, supported by Spring and the World Wildlife Fund, are publishing a briefing pack on the rising investor and corporate focus on nature. Nature action has become a fiduciary responsibility: leading investors are taking action today across land and oceans. In response, a collaborative and increasingly aligned set of investor initiatives are shaping to accelerate action.

Delighted that the China Climate Engagement Initiative (CCEI) has won 'ESG engagement initiative of the year, Asia' at the Sustainable Investment Awards 2024👏🎉🌏 Principles for Responsible Investment has been supporting this new collaborative investor engagement initiative, which aims to promote green, low-carbon and high-quality corporate transition towards China's ‘dual carbon’ goals of peak carbon emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. Climate change is a global problem and requires global solutions. Initiatives such as Climate Action 100+ have given investors a template for what can be achieved through the use of stewardship and collaboration across regions and sectors. But as the low-carbon transition becomes more sophisticated and nuanced, investor engagement can benefit from a more targeted and regionalised focus. As such PRI is supporting a growing number of regional investor initiatives (also see Climate Engagement Canada (CEC)) that better leverage locally led engagement, whilst also drawing on the support and expertise from other international investors. Despite the headwinds of geopolitics and populism, there are great opportunities for progress on climate change through such multi-stakeholder collaboration. New UK Prime Minister needs a whole-of-government approach to deliver net zero. Our CEO, David Atkin, has co-signed a letter to Keir Starmer, alongside the CEOs of UKSIF and Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC). In the letter, the three organisations urge the new PM to create a supportive policy environment in order to fully seize the economic, social, and environmental opportunities presented by the transition to net zero by 2050. Investment in green industries and technologies is accelerating, but it needs the right policy incentives to attract private finance. Read more of our letter here:https://lnkd.in/eScp7_G9
