Trinity Grammar School, Kew concludes the General Secretary’s tour of Melbourne’s independent schools. Many thanks to Adrian Farrer & members of his management team for giving so much time to discuss #education, politics & school development, as well as the opportunities & challenges of school leadership.

On his last day in Melbourne Dr Simon Hyde visited Susan Just at Lauriston Girls' School. After speaking with senior leaders, he was taken on a tour of some extraordinary new facilities, including the vast sports centre. One highlight was the innovative re-imagining of the old gym as a junior school.

A new musical for the General Secretary was on offer at Scotch College Melbourne’s fabulous theatre. Satire, parody and true love mingle with social commentary!

The General Secretary’s visit to Scotch College Melbourne was enhanced by a tour from Jiamu, 2 Hughs and School Captain Matt, whose term of office involves an additional year at school. Thanks to Headmaster Scott Marsh PhD for a wonderful lunch, conversation and the chance to meet his excellent management team.

Geelong Grammar School is set in extensive grounds overlooking the sea. Thanks to Principal Rebecca Cody for her warm welcome and to Tri, Jake, Olivia and Claude for a wonderful tour of the school.

Learning spaces are important. This inside/outside science classroom at Melbourne Grammar School is open to the elements and combines views of the city’s skyline with the adjacent low-rise catchment. Flexible space that can but raise horizons, literally!

Set in the heart of the city, Melbourne Grammar School offers a great blend of tradition and innovation in classroom design and school environment. Director of learning and research, Andrew Baylis was a generous host and discussed challenges and opportunities with the General Secretary.
