Tarmac Press Release ; June 20th Tarmac trials UK first EV tipper out of Walsall depot as part of drive to cut CO2 emissions by 30%. Working with London-based electric truck manufacturer Tevva Hydrogen Electric Trucks alongside Brit-Tipp Ltd – who completed this first electric tipper body integration – Tarmac began development of the electric tipper truck in 2022 as it looked to source alternatively fuelled HGV vehicles.  As a result of this collaboration, Brit-Tipp have successfully secured type approval for all their bodies on the Tevva chassis, significantly speeding up the vehicle registration process.  Assuming a use cycle of around 2,500 miles a month, the carbon saving should be over 2.2 tonnes of CO2 versus the diesel truck it replaces. May 22nd 2024: ✨𝗧𝗘𝗩𝗩𝗔 𝗙𝗨𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗖𝗞 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗡 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗘✨ - Creative minds from Coventry University rise to the Tevva Future Truck Design Challenge and deliver final concept presentations. ⤵ 🚀 We are thrilled to have partnered with the world-renowned Auto and Transport Design Coventry University for the first Tevva Future Truck Design Challenge! 🚀 Building on our two-year collaboration with Coventry University we've had the privilege of working with incredible talent from the BA Automotive and Transport Design programme, under the guidance of Professor James Ayre and Dr Seán McCartan. 🚛 Over the last 10 weeks, working to an industry brief, students have brought to life visionary concepts and a new design language for Tevva electric trucks. From honing analogue sketching techniques to mastering digital tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Autodesk Alias, VRED, and Blender. The final presentations of their concept vehicles, pushed the boundaries of vehicle design and integrated cutting-edge cargo loading systems and interactive Human Machine Interfaces (HMI). We are proud to have been part of this journey, providing real-world industry experience and mentoring to the next generation of designers. ⏭ Change is coming, rapid advancements are happening, and this week all eyes go West to ACT Expo / ACT News 📫 where #California is driving global change in clean freight transport. ⚡ 💧 The event brings fleet managers from across the US to establish procurement plans for low and zero-emission trucks. 🚛 ☀ California has set the global standard through its Advanced Clean Fleets Rule (ACF) which mandates fleets to transition to ZEV’s. The last 5 years has seen a decisive turning point in progress and the adoption of those rulings across multiple states. ‘The future can be clean, it can be lower cost and frankly it can be awesome!” said Tesla semi’s senior engineering manager, Dan Priestley when on stage with Erik Neandross of GNA (a TRC Company) as the show opened earlier this week.
