Partnering with the government is essential for achieving sustainable impact at scale. In India 🇮🇳, 350 million people depend on shared natural resources, such as community forests, pastures, and water bodies, for their livelihoods. The Foundation For Ecological Security (FES) is striving to ensure that communities have land rights, practice inclusive governance, and have access to the resources needed to restore these natural resources, collectively known as the Commons. To achieve this, FES considers that all government partnerships need to serve the aim of building government capacity. In 2022, we partnered with FES to systemise their approach to government partnerships and build their capacity to deliver on their strategic objectives. Ilifa Labantwana is a South African 🇿🇦 NGO that has been gradually changing the odds by driving systems change in the country's #ECD landscape. This case study, created in collaboration with Percept and Spring Impact, tells their unique story and explores the impact, challenges, and lessons arising over time. Read it here for a breakdown of complex systems change approaches into practical lessons and insights for funders and practitioners around the world. https://bit.ly/3Wnpivm

For the Foundation For Ecological Security (FES), flexible funding combined with a long-term vision and effective partnerships has led to the restoration of 13 million acres of community-governed land. In our final #ScalingMindsets video, Executive Director Subrata Singh explains why taking a long-term approach became a non-negotiable. Every year, tens of thousands of children in the US are incarcerated in juvenile detention facilities. The vast majority are Black, Latino, and indigenous boys. Much attention has been paid to the “school-to-prison pipeline,” but less has been devoted to the successful reentry of children from detention centres to mainstream schooling. Spring Impact supported #LiftingTheBar and Stanford Impact Labs in developing and testing pathways for scaling their project, which focused on working with country and district leaders to strengthen student-educator relationships for students in key transitional moments.
