  • In our video, Tony, our Resource Centre Manager, demonstrates the great use of bump on stickers. People who are blind or partially sighted can stick these to regularly used buttons on remote controls, keyboards, phones and switches around the home, to help make life easier and stay connected with friends and family. As today is World Wide Web Day, we're celebrating how access to the internet can help us all stay connected. The Web allows us to access knowledge and get in touch with people, bringing the whole world to our fingertips. We're proud to help people live independent lives. If someone would like to visit our Resource Centre, to discover equipment on the market, that could help with sight or hearing loss, they can contact our Helpdesk to book an appointment at: https://lnkd.in/e57s2z4W Visitors to the Resource Centre often come with their partner, friend, family escort or carer and they are very welcome to participate in the experience. [Video Description: Tony demonstrates how brightly coloured bump on stickers can be put on buttons around the house, on telephone buttons or remote controls to mark buttons frequently used. • We had such an exciting time at our latest Breaking Down Barriers workshop, raising awareness on access and inclusion with organisations across sectors, throughout Surrey. A Deaf attendee was fascinated to discover the wider Deaf community and we enjoyed meeting a PhD Student to hear about their work on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with the Deaf community. Sensory Specialist Worker, Deanne and Deafblind Specialist Assessor Julie, tailored their sighted guide training session for three wheelchair users. Our next Breaking Down Barriers workshops are on: - Wednesday 16th October 2024 - Wednesday 29th January 2025 Tickets just £25 while spaces last. • A huge thank you to everyone who made our staff away day at Painshill Park such a great success. We enjoyed a wonderful hands-on signing icebreaker and staff-led sessions that ranged from the power of language to the benefits available to the people we support. In the afternoon there was a wellbeing planting session led by our voluntary sector friends at Mary Frances Trust. Staff were also able to book a hand massage with one of the Young Adults we support, who has now qualified as a beauty therapist and is setting up her own business!
