We were delighted to welcome Dério and Luisa from Farmers Coffee to Glasgow last week. As one of the producers behind our guests’ coffee and one of Paddy & Scott's direct trading partners, we loved learning all about how they combine tradition with science and technology to produce specialty coffee in Brazil. It’s all about the process! Thank you to Paddy & Scott for organising the meeting! #RBHPartnerships #GivingSomethingBack #SustainableHospitality #CoffeeSuppliers Susan Bland, Will Macpherson, Thomas Hirst

Today we bid farewell to our long-standing Group Learning and Development Manager, Niki Fincham! One of our BDL originals, her RBH journey has been marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a commitment to nurturing talent within the hospitality industry. She has not only been responsible for numerous RBH talent development programmes, such as Pyramid and Chef Academy, but played a key role in embedding our values which are very much still alive today. She leaves behind an impressive 24-year legacy, and we wish her all the best in the future! #LifeAtRBH

We are so proud of all our Pyramiders who graduated today! 👩🎓🧑🎓 In her final year of running the programme before handing over to newly appointed Anita Wheeler, Niki Fincham said: ‘Having overseen six Pyramid cohorts graduate, the programme has without a doubt gone from strength to strength, offering those who take part a well-rounded and commercial programme. From assessment to completion, we have helped individuals tailor their learning to help them drive their own success and that of those they lead. I am incredibly proud to have seen so many progress to General Manager roles, develop their self-confidence and realise their potential to take on bigger roles.’ This year’s cohort has already had some success stories with 2 candidates already progressing to deputy level roles. Since its initial launch, 51% of candidates have become Deputy General Mangers or General Managers, while 31% have moved into larger roles. Thank you to everyone who has supported our candidates throughout the process and to Steve Brazil and his team at Bridgewood Manor Hotel & Spa for hosting the graduation event. #RBHPyramid #LearningAndDevelopment #TalentRetention #LifeAtRBH #HospitalityCareers Jade James, Marija Borisevica, Mark McGhie, Tammy Sirilli, Raluca Pop, Liam Ord, Tiberiu Pripu, Jekaterina (Kat) Sapolovska, Hannah Walters, Emmanouela Kostouli, Dave Wright

To round off the week, today we are spotlighting our waste management initiative, led by Head of Procurement Paul Smith and Group Procurement Manager, Martin Higgs. Since 2021 we have focused on consolidating our waste management operation. Thanks to our partners Enva, we are now able to track waste consumption, ensuring that we have zero waste going to landfill for the hotels where we manage waste. Since launching the partnership, we have avoided over 1100 tonnes of CO2e since launching the partnership! As part of our focus on waste management, we have also partnered with Too Good To Go in order to reduce our food waste. Since launching the partnership a year ago, we have saved 12,753 meals, avoided 34.43 tonnes of CO2e and have fundraised £26k for Mental Health UK. Ensuring we have a sustainable supply chain is critical to us achieving our environmental targets. We therefore have a Sustainable Procurement Policy and a Supplier Code of Conduct in place to ensure we partner with like-minded suppliers, one of them being Paddy & Scott's. We launched our partnership with Paddy & Scott not only due to the quality of their product but because of the way they trade with their coffee farms. They are committed to help fund school meals in coffee growing regions around the world, and for every bag of Lunch Box coffee sold, they provide a meal for a child who needs it most. Since the start of the partnership, RBH hotels have provided 3,200 school meals!
