I’d go as far as saying that document automation is a catalyst for accelerated learning. For junior lawyers, and those transitioning from different legal areas (me) alike. My family law litigation background provided a steep learning curve back when I ventured into commercial contracting at Radiant Law, where doc automation is deeply ingrained in our workflows. Guided prompts and instant feedback transformed the process from a daunting task into a structured learning experience. I could grasp complex legal concepts quicker by seeing their practical application within the document. While doc automation doesn't replace the importance of legal fundamentals, it certainly is transforming and improving how we learn. We're moving beyond the whole 'more time spent = more intellectual yield' myth.

"But how will our junior lawyers learn?" I get this question a lot. The concern is that by using document automation to draft a document, less experienced lawyers will not learn the art of drafting as they are not "cutting their teeth" by manually filling in square bracket after square bracket, page by page. My answer is that Document Automation improves just-in-time learning and can be a training aid. How? 🌟 By inserting guidance next to a question a lawyer can learn the relevance of considering a certain point at the time they are working on that deal. This is a much better way to learn than by a group training session months before they need that knowledge. 🌟 Guidance next to a question is more likely to be read than a footnote. 🌟 A document automation questionnaire acts as a mental checklist for the lawyer of all the points they should consider when drafting that type of document. 🌟 Having a preview screen that shows the changes made to the entire document as they answer certain questions, helps them understand the whole impact of their choice. Over the last 10 years we have taken feedback from lawyers on this point and their use of document automation. If you are facing this argument from your leadership and need help preparing a proposal as to how document automation could benefit your lawyers, please get in touch. #DocumentAutomation 📸 Element5 Digital on Unsplash
