This week, we met Dr Orji Ogbonnaya Orji,PhD, Executive Secretary and National Coordinator of NEITI (Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative) in Abuja, #Nigeria.

This week, Open Ownership Executive Director Thom Townsend and colleagues visited the new Registrar General of the Nigeria Corporate Affairs Commission, Mr. Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, who demonstrated strong commitments to #BeneficialOwnership #transparency with a particular interest in enforcing sanctions, and launching awareness campaigns to increase compliance.

#latepost #beneficialownershiptransparency EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative) and Open Ownership organized a workshop for Petroleum Commission, Ghana, Minerals Commission of Ghana as well as Companies in the Mining and Petroleum sectors on Beneficial Ownership at the Tang Palace from the 8th - 12th July 2024. These workshop almost every time provide the opportunity to meet new people in different sectors and institutions and establish new contacts. As the Office of the Registrar of Companies is the Central Register of the Beneficial Ownership data, we were present to provide the legal background of Beneficial Ownership Transparency and also to answer all questions on the data collection, processing and storage.

Last month at #IACC2024, the End Snow-Washing Coalition (Publish What You Pay #Canada, Transparency International Canada, Canadians For Tax Fairness) and Open Ownership launched our new collaborative project Amplify: advocacy strategies for #BeneficialOwnership reform.
