#Madfest 2024 is over! If you were there, you might have spotted Dudley Nevill-Spencer & Nick Gray – who described it as: “marketing’s Glasto, full of realness and proper innovation”. We could make 100 posts about our takeaways from the event, from coolest and most spectacular AI integration from Mark Davis of Studio of Art & Commerce on Day 1 to day 3 discussions on retail media as part of the full CX journey with Boots CMO Pete Markey and Head of Media Ollie Shayer. We asked Nick & Dudley to sum up their MAD 3 days in 3 words… 😇 Truth We are here in marketing to understand it, so find it, cherish it and don’t believe that its simple. Human needs are pretty simple, but their truths and values are mixed and messy and contradictory, you have to embrace the contradictions. AI can do help this process massively but a human needs to find a clear path and choose a way of expressing it – simply – but close enough isn’t good enough. Don’t be lazy. 🤲 Collaboration In our multi-threaded, ultra-fast, ultra-complicated world this is the only way to succeed – collaboration between internal divisions, agencies and with your consumer. 📈 Positive If your consumer brand isn’t helping in some way and is only chasing money, at some point it will become irrelevant. Thanks for having us MADFest, we already can't wait until the next one!

🤖 #AI wrote this song about my #ADHD for me. 💟 It captured how I feel about it, simply, but perfectly - I didn't change word. 🎶 The music algorithms of the near future won't just find songs you like—they'll create brand new songs, playlists of them, in a style you love, with lyrics that are deeply personal to you. 💥 I worked with @Suno to write this song, it explores the dual nature of ADHD. Despite its challenges, there are moments of beauty when newness, clarity, and disparate ideas converge to create something truly innovative, when complex problems are suddenly solved. These moments of joy and clarity, "the blaze”, as the song calls it, then give you the motivation and strength to ‘keep moving on’. 🤔 Its not perfect, and I would normally adapt the words and build it out to 3 minutes 10, but I wanted you to hear the pure AI form - and it still resonated deeply with me. 🙊 Its true you need understand how prompt the AI with clarity to get the results you want, but it just takes practice - and a lot of honesty. 🔊And AI-generated music does raise legal and rights issues, similarly to streaming, but these challenges will be addressed. At the Digital Marketing World Forum in London -heres my overview 😊 / overload 🤐 below. #dmwf Olaf lenzman of market logic showed how Al can inject consumer insights + market research into your daily workflows. We have been working on these ‘operational AI’ type AI models at Live & Breathe and they can be transformative for Research and Strategy divisions at agencies and for brands, but to do this right, you need to get all your research data into a taxonomy the machine can search - e.g structured data 😮 . This is no easy task and still needs a human in the loop 🕺 Ricky Chopra at Zenith and Jon Reilly at Akkio focussed on using AI to make complex data accessible to any team member through intuitive chat and driving action through data storytelling - Al transforming data into engaging narratives and visuals. We are about to trial Akkio at L&B it’s an impressive system, interrogating performance data and making recommendations in a conversational format 🤖 - a lot of global networks are white labelling this as their own product - because it’s ace. Our CRM and performance marketing team are keen to see how well this trial goes - we will report soon! And the best presentation of the day from Pulsar. Pulsar introduced a new called ‘Narratives’. We have been Beta testing this for a while and it is a brilliant use of Machine Learning and AI. You can ask it analyse conversations from media sources - thousands of them - which they extract and absorb and aggregate the opinions of. It then cuts them into topics that are resonating and places them onto a timeline, and showing how these conversations move and what prior topics fed this and then…. uses #Genai to do a precis of every topic. This is like gold dust for us and we use it at Live & Breathe at the very beginning of our #DataKinetics research system. DK is a deep insight tool that enables brands to understand the category landscape and their Target Audience. Narratives is amazing for our ‘ground truth analysis’ - see image below. This helps us understand general perceptions of category and is used as a base line before we extract and enrich the Target Audience to figure out how to most effectively market to them. For us, narratives provides the dominant media story which the consumer is experiencing, this coupled with wide survey analysis gives us a solid base to start our Target Audience analysis from.
