Honestly, I never really needed to leave my home country. I had a comfortable life—living in a four-bedroom duplex in a highbrow area of Lagos, enjoying the company of friends in a hacker house, and even having a chef prepare the best Nigerian meals. But despite all this, there was a persistent feeling deep within me, a sense of unfulfilled potential, an urge to explore and conquer new challenges. This drive is something many immigrants can relate to. It's the belief that the world has more to offer and that there’s always another level to unlock. For me, this realization hit hard during a conversation with one of my mom’s friends. At that very moment, I was already feeling a heavy pressure on my heart—it was time to push myself further, to embrace more significant challenges and to experience the thrill of living on the edge again. That conversation introduced me to the idea of moving to the UK. It was a timely push for the change I desperately needed. Despite the life I had back in Nigeria, the desire to do more and achieve more motivated me to take a leap of faith. Then I did something insane; I liquidated all my savings and began the processing (A story for another day). I remember arriving at Heathrow in London with just £120 in cash and a dream to do whatever it takes to succeed. The journey hasn’t been easy and it is still not. I guess that's what I signed up for. The thrill of living on the edge with no plan B. This experience taught me resilience and the importance of pushing boundaries, which directly inspired the creation of JobgapAI. At JobgapAI, we understand the struggles immigrants and international graduates face in the job market because we've lived through them.
