Equities Trading Sales, LSEG | FIX Trading NextGen Steering Committee | Co-Head of WIN UK | WATC Rising Star 2022 | CFA level I completed

What a pleasure it was to host BlackRock and Inspiring Girls UK who brought a group of 30-odd Year 9 future leaders from the Paddington Academy to LSEG earlier this month. After a brief tour and multiple clicks on the Market Open button on our balcony (luckily, it is not operating the matching engine!), we sat down with Blackrock's Megan Bermudez, CAIA and LSEG's Sally Francis-Cole on a fireside chat to deliver a key message to the girls: no matter what background or starting line they all have, they can build a successful career in financial services. My main takeaway (and probably, the proudest moment) from the day was girls' positive feedback at the end, the majority saying that prior to that day they always thought of financial services as accountancy, only to find out that there is a lot more to it! I wouldn't be lying if I said that now there is a group of very powerful young girls who may indeed dream of a career in finance. Nurturing starts at the very young age, and slowly but surely, we are changing the landscape - the future women in finance, trading and more are in the making! Huge thanks to Blackrock's Danielle N., Inspiring Girls' Saeresh I. and LSEG's Sasha Feldman for their help in making this day a success.

Highlights from the third and final workshop at the BlackRock office, followed by a visit to the London Stock exchange! 📉 'The Basics of Investing' was the topic for the final session, completing a series of 3 financial literacy workshops, all delivered by amazing women who work in different departments and job roles at BlackRock! 🏦 Girls in Year 9 from Paddington Academy learnt all about stocks and bonds, took part case studies and explored different ways of investing! 🧮 This was followed by a visit to the LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) for an interactive tour! 🚶♀️ The day ended with an extremely insightful and memorable panel discussion. We were privileged to hear from two inspirational women: Megan Bermudez, CAIA who is the Product Execution Lead within EMEA’s Wealth Product Group at BlackRock and Sally Francis-Cole, Global Head FX Sales & Account Management at LSEG. This was chaired by Rugiyya Gahramanli, Business Development Manager at the London Stock Exchange and Co-Head of LSEG’s Women Inspired Network (WIN) in the UK! 🤩 They each shared their unique journeys and important pieces of advice, before answering questions from girls in the audience. 🙋🏽♀️ "The whole day and experience has been so inspiring and a really big priveldge!" - Year 9 Student 💫 If you'd like girls from your school to take part in unique and empowering opportunities like this, then get in touch via the link in our bio! 🔗 #InspiringGirls #BlackRock #LondonStockExchange #LSEG

Your Leadership Journey✨ The final leadership workshop at Central Foundation Girls' School, as part of the Dream Gap project, in partnership with Barbie, took place earlier this month! 😍 During this workshop, 30 girls in Year 8 reflected on what they had achieved during the course of 3 months and decided on their future focus! 💭 They took part in interactive excercises and finished the session by writing a letter to their future selves, capturing what kind of leader they expected themselves to become over the next 10 years! 💪 It has been such an inspiring journey, seeing the girls gain more confidence, broaden their vision and step into leadership roles, both in and outside of school! 🙌🏽 A huge well done to all the girls who took part and to our wonderful workshop coach Jess Bannister! 👏 If you would like to empower girls at your school with workshops like this, please register your interest via the link in our bio 🔗 #InspiringGirls #DreamGap #Barbie #Leadership

Inspiring Girls UK is proud to continue their partnership with BlackRock, delivering financial literacy workshops specifically designed for girls aged 11-16. 🎉 Four amazing Blackrock role models delivered two engaging and interesting sessions at Paddington Academy, this time to a group of girls in Year 9! 🤩 Session one focused on goals and budgeting and session two was all about savings and debt. 💵 Girls even had a taste of what it would be like if they were to open up and manage their own businesses! 🔥 Financial education empowers girls to take control of their financial futures. It gives them the confidence to make informed decisions about their finances, such as setting goals, creating budgets, and understanding the implications of savings and debt - all topics which are covered by our workshops with BlackRock! 🙌🏽 If you would like girls at your school to take part in initiatives like this, register today via the link in our bio. 🔗 #RoleModels #InspiringGirls #BlackRock

💡 Did you know that 35% of girls believe they’re not expected to be good at sport, compared to just 4% of boys? Not only that, but a third of parents (32.2%) endorse the belief that boys are better at sports than girls. A culture of low expectation and gender stereotypes means many girls are raised with the belief that they won’t excel at sport, without ever exploring their potential. It's time to change the game! Let's challenge our own expectations of girls and ensure they recieve the encouragement and opportunities they deserve. Together, we can create a world where every girl feels empowered to chase her dreams, and pursue her goals 🌟🏃♀️ 📊 Source: Women in Sport #PassTheTorch

Last Friday, we celebrated our Inspiring Girls UK #PassTheTorch event at Central Foundation Girls' School, and it was nothing short of amazing! Our fantastic panel of sports women - racing driver Caitlin Wood, martial arts coach Hasina Rahman and cyclist Emily Wadsworth - gave the girls a unique insight into their sporting careers with inspiring stories of perseverance. A big shout-out to our UK Young Ambassador, Ekamjit for leading the discussion with such enthusiasm, the students, their wonderful volleyball coach Lulama Musti de Gennaro and of course to our panellists who left the girls buzzing with motivation, ready to chase their dreams 🌟🚀 Thank you to everyone who made this event truly unforgettable! #WomenInSport #Inspiration #RoleModels #Empowerment

Along with health benefits, sport gives girls so many valuable skills they will carry with them into the rest of their lives, especially their careers. And yet it’s still often overlooked as a tool for women’s empowerment. According to research from the @womenssportsfoundation, girls involved in sports demonstrate greater confidence and resilience, setting them up for success both on and off the field. It’s time to change the narrative, and encourage girls to reclaim the power of sport for themselves 💪💥 How has sport enriched your life? #PassTheTorch by sharing your story in the comments below.
